We have our winners of the most decorated houses in Thendara Park.

The winners are:

1st place:  Craig & Shannon on Algonquin

2nd place:  Matt & Linda on Iroquois

3rd place:  Tony & Kim on Algonquin

Congratulations to winners!

Happy Holidays!

It is our goal to have all of the homeowners switch over to Community Disposal in the next few months.  By making this switch, we will be able to significantly reduce the number of garbage trucks going through our subdivision while eliminating having garbage out on several different days within the subdivision.  Please share this information with your neighbors!

Community Disposal

248-634-5963 or 810-336-3000

$15.00 per month weekly trash service.  One large item added per quarter at no charge. $10.00 per additional item.

$3.00 per month weekly recycling. Please note that due to global recycling crisis, the recycling rate may be increasing to $3.50 per month as soon as January, 2020.

$.50 per bag yard waste service.

Community Disposal Service does not have any container requirements, but offers 96 gallon carts for purchase at a $80.00 delivery fee.

Current customers will see the adjusted rate as soon as data entry changes are made (hopefully by the end of the week), and new customers should mention "Thendara Park" when ordering service.

Should you have further questions, please feel free to contact them Monday to Friday 8am to 5:30pm and Saturday 8am to 12pm.

Radon Gas Danger in Thendara Park

As you are enjoying the warmth of your home nestled in the beautiful woods of Thendara this Winter, it would be a good time to think about how healthy of an environment you are actually living in.  You may be surprised to learn that radon gas levels within our community can be quite high and that many homes in our area currently have radon mitigation systems installed.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency and World Health Organization, Radon is responsible for up to 15% of the world’s lung cancers and kills over 20,000 people annually in the United States alone.

If you are like me, you may have bought a test kit or two over the years, however, this is quite an easy task to procrastinate on and the test must be followed carefully and takes a very brief snapshot of your potential radon risks as results can vary widely simply based on the time of year you test your home.

So, what can you do to protect you and your family’s health?  The best advice I can give is to buy an continuous radon gas detector.  The one I use in my home is a Pro Series 3 Electronic Radon Gas Detector.  You can buy them from Home Depot for around $129.00.

Better yet, as a dues paying member of the Thendara Park Homeowners Association, you can actually borrow the one we have purchased for use by homeowners.  If you are interested in borrowing the detector for up to a week to take your readings, please contact Doug McAlpine at 248-394-0009 and make arrangements with him to pick it up and drop it back off.

If your levels are deemed to be high ( at or above  a reading of 4 pCi/L), feel free to seek out a good local Radon Mitigation contractor or consider doing the project yourself.  When I installed mine, I found this site to be full of information and they sold all of the products I needed at very competitive prices:  https://www.indoor-air-health-advisor.com/

I wish you a Happy and Healthy New Year!
